About The Position

Are you a Cloud Software Architect who has experience with AWS cloud-native technologies looking for a place to make an impact? We are seeking an experienced Cloud Software Architect to lead a major migration initiative from an on-premises data center to a secure, scalable AWS cloud environment. This role is critical in designing and implementing cloud architectures that meet stringent federal compliance standards while optimizing performance and cost. You will collaborate with stakeholders, security teams, and developers to deliver robust solutions that support mission-critical applications and workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 10+ years of IT experience
  • 5+ years of AWS cloud experience
  • Experience in architecting, designing and developing applications on the AWS platform
  • 5+ years of application development experience, technical leadership
  • Previous experience as Software/Solution Architect, Lead Architect, or similar role
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time if required

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end migration from contractor-owned on-premises data center to the agency’s AWS cloud environment
  • Design and implement secure, scalable, and cost-optimized AWS architectures (VPC, IAM, EC2, EBS, S3, RDS, Lambda, etc.)
  • Develop Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation for repeatable, compliant deployments
  • Architect and integrate hybrid solutions for systems that remain on-premises (e.g., mailroom, legacy workflows)
  • Configure and validate network connectivity across environments (VPN, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway)
  • Ensure all cloud solutions meet FedRAMP, FISMA, and NIST 800-53 compliance standards
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and security controls (CloudWatch, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Config, Inspector)
  • Manage identity and access management across platforms (Active Directory, SAML, IAM Federation)
  • Optimize application and database performance for .NET, Java, and SQL workloads within AWS
  • Produce detailed architecture diagrams, migration roadmaps, and operational runbooks for ongoing management
  • Collaborate closely with agency stakeholders, security, DevOps, and application development teams
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to cloud engineers and development teams
  • Demonstrate strong experience with both Linux and Windows environments and modern DevOps toolchains (CI/CD, Git, Jenkins, Docker)
  • Maintain excellent communication and coordination skills across technical and non-technical teams
