About The Position

Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies, Workers Compensation Division, is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Cloud Architect to lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, secure, and reliable cloud solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure (preferred), or Google Cloud and a strong understanding of infrastructure as code, automation, security, and enterprise architecture. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, without requiring, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years to include the following:
  • Designing and implementing solutions on one or more major clous platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Systems administration, software development, or enterprise architecture.
  • Advanced container experience with Docker and Kubernetes or other container orchestration platform.
  • Demonstrated experience with scripting languages.
  • Solid knowledge of cloud networking (VPCs, VPN, DNS, Load Balancing), storage, and compute services.
  • Understanding of security, identity management, and compliance in the cloud (IAM, encryption, audit logging).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles.
  • Foundational understanding of cloud technologies (e.g., Azure or AWS).
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates).
  • Familiarity with basic monitoring tools and troubleshooting practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field required.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more preferred: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate/Professional; Azure Solutions Architect - Expert.

Responsibilities

  • Design end-to-end cloud architecture solutions aligned with business objectives and technical requirements.
  • Define and implement cloud adoption strategies, including public, private, and hybrid cloud models.
  • Evaluate existing systems and make recommendations for cloud migration, modernization, and optimization.
  • Establish cloud governance, standards, and best practices to ensure compliance, security, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, Security, Networking, and Application teams to ensure integrated and seamless deployment.
  • Lead architecture reviews, cloud assessments, and proof-of-concept efforts.
  • Create and maintain architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and roadmaps.
  • Mentor development and infrastructure teams on cloud best practices and architectural standards.
