The Impact You’ll Make in this Role As a Cloud Engineer, you will have the opportunity to design, build, and support architectures and cloud services with your team for users across the globe: Participate as a member on our development teams building and maintaining cloud resources for use in our applications. Create “infrastructure as code”, and work toward common high-performance infrastructure across our applications. Network through CRDL development groups to understand their needs; other lab software development groups are primary stakeholders. Maintain relationships with appropriate IT groups to partner with standards Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including tools to automate testing, security compliance, style compliance, etc. Monitor cloud use and costs; identify idle resources, identify opportunities for cost saving Support “well architected” concepts; review, educate, evangelize Advise management on technical strategies and architectures Collect trouble reports and resolve problems Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members. Act as a mentor to more junior members of the team Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and collaborate with other technical leaders at 3M on adoption and best practices Aggressively publish internal technical documents and present to Tech Forum, or internal special interest groups

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science related field (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Four (4) years building and managing resources in Amazon Web Services product set.
  • Seven (7) years building and managing software platforms, cloud and pre-cloud architectures in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in computer science related field from an accredited institution
  • Possess AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
  • Familiar with AWS Well Architected Framework, understanding of performance optimization techniques for cloud resources and optimize architecture.
  • Able to develop tools and support software as infrastructure.
  • Familiar with Python, TypeScript, Shell/Bash, Docker, AWS (ECS, IAM, S3, Lambda, Aurora, Batch/Step Functions), AWS Networking, and AWS CDK, Databricks.
  • Administration of Kubernetes (EKS)
  • Strong proficiency in CI/CD tools, particularly GitHub and GitHub Actions.
  • Familiar with AWS Bedrock and emerging LLM architectures
  • Microsoft Entra ID
  • SRE Experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Troubleshooting cloud infrastructure and networking problems
