About The Position

Deliver simple solutions to complex problems as a Cloud DevOps Engineer at GDIT. This role involves tailoring cutting-edge solutions to client requirements, with a focus on the end user's experience. The position seeks a Cloud DevOps Engineer with proven experience supporting enterprise web applications and cloud-based infrastructure. Responsibilities include hands-on OS level support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of cloud-hosted systems and enterprise applications. Success requires strong Linux/Windows administration skills, deep cloud engineering expertise, and the ability to independently execute upgrades, monitoring, troubleshooting, and implementation activities within AWS environments. This is a hands-on engineering position and a primary contributor to the day-to-day success of program operations.

Requirements

  • 10 + years of related experience
  • US Citizenship Required
  • Top Secret SCI + Polygraph clearance
  • Strong Linux/Unix administration and distributed systems troubleshooting experience.
  • Strong experience supporting enterprise web applications (Tomcat).
  • Strong experience with AWS EC2, S3, IAM, Security Groups, SQS, Lambda, STS, Availability Zones.
  • Strong experience with CloudWatch, ELK, Logstash, Elasticsearch, Icinga, AppDynamics.
  • Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong scripting skills (Java, Python, Bash, Shell).
  • Strong CI/CD experience with Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab.
  • Strong experience with Terraform and CloudFormation.
  • Strong experience with TLS/SSL, PKI, OpenSSL, encryption ciphers.
  • Strong experience with serverless applications and microservices.
  • Strong AWS CLI proficiency.
  • Experience with MySQL or similar databases.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
  • Participation in the on call rotation schedule is required.

  • Preferred experience working with Solr and Zookeeper clusters.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and support AWS environments (EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda, VPC).
  • Perform advanced OS upgrades, patching, and system health checks.
  • Manage SQS queues, serverless apps, and microservices.
  • Operate observability stacks (CloudWatch, ELK, AppDynamics).
  • Analyze logs and telemetry for performance optimization and RCA.
  • Automate tasks with Python, Bash, or Shell.
  • Develop automation scripts, and manage CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub).
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Manage TLS/SSL certificates, secrets, and PKI processes.
  • Support AWS KMS, IAM, and vulnerability remediation efforts.
  • Maintain security accreditation and documentation.
  • Deploy and optimize Kubernetes workloads, Docker containers, and AWS Lambda functions.
  • Improve container build pipelines and troubleshoot complex runtime issues.
