About The Position

As the Mortgage Loan Closing/Funding Manager, you will lead a team of closers and funders responsible for ensuring loans are closed accurately, timely, and in full compliance with regulatory and investor guidelines. This role requires a hands-on leader who can coach, mentor, and optimise workflows, while collaborating cross-functionally with processing, underwriting, secondary markets, compliance, and post-closing teams. You’ll be key to building out scalable operations and helping shape how Valon delivers seamless, customer-first closings.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of closing/funding experience in the mortgage industry, with at least 2 years in a managerial role within loan closing/funding
  • Deep understanding of mortgage regulations (TRID, RESPA, TILA, ECOA), agency and investor closing guidelines, and loan funding procedures
  • Proficient and comfortable navigating mortgage tech platforms
  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Ability to think strategically while executing tactically in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Track record of driving process improvements and managing change
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
  • High integrity, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to operational excellence
  • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent secondary education certification is required

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of the Closing and Funding team, ensuring timely and compliant loan closings and disbursements
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and delivery of closing packages in accordance with company, investor, and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure TRID, RESPA, and agency compliance across all closings
  • Act as an escalation point for complex closing issues and coordinate resolutions across internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain quality control standards and work closely with Compliance and Post-Closing to address audit findings or file corrections
  • Own pipeline management and resource allocation to meet SLAs and investor delivery timelines
  • Build and refine scalable processes that improve efficiency, accuracy, and the borrower experience
  • Train, coach, and develop team members; provide regular performance feedback and support career growth
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to provide operational feedback on process automation or system enhancements
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and customer-centric team culture
  • Other duties as assigned by management
