About The Position

The following statements reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements, which may be inherent in the position. The Scheduler for the GI office is responsible for scheduling all patient activities, including but not limited to, physician appointments, treatments, outpatient endoscopies, procedures, documenting H&P, and discerning appropriate prep for each patient and procedure. The scheduler is responsible for verifying insurance coverage for all scheduled events and acquiring any necessary precertification’s or authorizations. Some of the many skills performed: · Verbal ability to communicate courteously with patients and/or patient family members. · Concern and interest in meeting the needs of the patient. · Courtesy to and collaboration with other staff · Accuracy and timeliness of information · Computer skills: o Electronic Medical Record (CPSI and Allscripts) o Medicaid online o Microsoft Excel o Microsoft Word · Preparing paperwork for daily procedure schedule (Surgical orders, H&P, cardiac clearance, pre-cert’s to Day surgery, admitting, and endoscopy · Follows up diligently with resources and patients · Documents appropriately in the chart/ EMR accurately and timely · Handles account inquiries timely, accurately and courteously · Ability to assume responsibility and take initiative · Ability to multi-task · Ability to communicate and coordinate with healthcare professionals about schedules, patients, or changes.

  • High School Diploma or GED strongly preferred.
  • One year of experience in pre-cert/ scheduling
  • Familiar with medical terminology
