About The Position

Under general supervision and according to established nursing standards, policies, procedures and professional guidelines, delivers nursing care to patients. Collaborates and participates with the manager in unit operations. Exercises independent judgment and advanced clinical skills required to autonomously insert midline/ peripherally inserted central catheters as well as difficult peripheral IV catheters as needed. Has the current knowledge to survey vascular access devices, formulate teaching strategies and contribute to infusion related committees. Acts as a clinical expert in the field of vascular access and maintains an in-depth knowledge in all types of vascular access devices including placement, usage, and removal. Plans and implements nursing care; documents nursing assessments, identifies and reports situations requiring intervention, formulates and communicates goals and directed plan of care; assures patients rights. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Florida.
  • A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, including initiation of I-V therapy.
  • BSN required.
  • Ultrasound guided PIV placement required.

Nice To Haves

  • VA-BC certified preferred.
  • Pediatric & adult patient population experience preferred.
