About The Position

The Mobile Crisis Team is made up of a multi-disciplinary team who work together to respond to mental health crisis calls within the Fairbanks North Star Borough from other agencies or individuals by providing emergency mental health assessments, crisis intervention, consultation, and referral services. This is primarily an on-call position with rotating 24-hour shifts.

Requirements

  • You have a master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field
  • You are licensed in Alaska as a Social Worker, Psychologist, Psychological Associate, Marriage & Family Therapist, or have the ability to be licensed within two years
  • You have one year (full-time) or equivalent post-graduate, supervised experience with adults with severe, persistent mental disorders in a mental healthcare treatment or rehabilitation program
  • In addition to the above requirement, an additional six months (full-time) or equivalent supervised experience providing professional level (i.e., activities usually performed by persons in positions requiring post-Baccalaureate formal education) mental healthcare services to a population with identified mental disorders. Formal post-Baccalaureate internships and practicums may be credited towards this requirement
  • You have personal transportation with a clean 5-year driving record and Alaska vehicle insurance

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate client access to voluntary or involuntary psychiatric hospital care.
  • Prescribe other clinical interventions necessary to maintain safety and reduce harm.
  • Conduct an emergency intervention evaluation within one hour of contact by the crisis line responder.
  • Inform on-call clinician coming on duty, involved professionals (i.e., referring physician, Fairbanks Memorial Hospital clinician, attending psychiatrist, or case manager) of results of crisis intervention, current client status, and appropriate follow-up.
  • Evaluate crisis situations promptly and provide necessary services or directs other staff in provision of necessary services to effectively resolve the crisis situation.
