About The Position

The Clinical Trial Methods Center (CTMC) has been established within the Wake Forest University School of Medicine to provide the necessary tools and expertise that the Advocate Health National Center for Clinical Trials (NCCT) will access and apply to deliver many of its core services. The NCCT is designed to serve as an innovative platform to revolutionize and catalyze the conduct of clinical trials−greatly accelerating the translation of scientific findings into improvements in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease for our communities and patients. The NCCT will offer core services for patient recruitment and enrollment, trial administration and follow-up, and to gather real world data and evidence. The Associate Director, Administration and Operations is a key administrative leader within the CTMC, supporting the Director in executing the strategic, operational, and academic mission of the Center. This role ensures operational excellence, facilitates integration across CTMC domains, and drives sustainable growth through strategic business engagement and resource optimization. The Associate Director will serve as a critical connector between CTMC, the NCCT, and the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), helping to align efforts across the enterprise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with five years’ experience in research, academic healthcare, and/or higher education management with successful track record of progressive responsibility required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and process large amounts of information.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse clientele both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated leadership, knowledge, and administrative experience with relevance to research administration.
  • Proven track record of securing and managing strategic partnerships in a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, team leadership, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in a large academic medical center or health system.
  • Familiarity with clinical trial methodology, regulatory requirements, and data management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operations and productivity across CTMC domains including RADAR, Data Coordinating Center, Community Engagement, and Applied Methodologies.
  • Monitor and manage service capacity, creating efficiencies to ensure service levels are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Develop and maintain operational metrics, dashboards, and performance improvement plans.
  • Lead budget planning, resource allocation, and financial tracking in collaboration with the Director, CTMC and the NCCT Finance team.
  • Represent CTMC in operational forums and working groups across the enterprise.
  • Facilitate business interactions with NCCT and its executive leadership team, ensuring alignment and responsiveness to strategic priorities.
  • Participate in strategic planning and execute tactics to achieve CTMC goals and milestones.
  • Ensure sustainable growth for the Center from both revenue generation and investment perspectives.
  • Serve as the operational liaison to the CTMC Director and CTSI leadership, promoting integration and synergy across School of Medicine research initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the cross-functional domains of CTMC (RADAR, Data Coordinating Center, Community Engagement, and Applied Methodologies) to ensure alignment and execution of strategic initiatives, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
  • Support the onboarding, training and professional development of CTMC staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall success and mission of CTMC.
