Overview: This role will be 32 hours per week Job Description Summary: Evaluates patients for massage therapy because of injury or disease and implements massage therapy programs and services to meet clinical needs. Provides education or in-services regarding indications and benefits of massage therapy, documents evaluation results and patient progress, and provides patient and family education. Job Description: Essential Functions: Administers massage therapy treatment to promote relaxation and improve pulmonary function, utilizing stress reduction techniques and other modalities. Observes and modifies treatment plans to meet needs and achieve goals. Conducts educational programs for hospital staff, students and community. Delegates to students from accredited programs and unlicensed personnel, supervising care provided. Documents as appropriate and in compliance with requirements of the hospital and accrediting associations. Maintains the administrative functions of individual caseload, including scheduling, entering daily charges, and submitting timely documentation. Educates on treatment goals and therapy plans, instructs on massage therapy activities, and evaluates ongoing compliance and understanding. Evaluates patients to determine appropriateness of massage therapy services. Establishes goals and develops an individualized treatment plan. Communicates status and collaborates with physicians, third-party payors, and relevant healthcare providers. Recommends and secures patient referrals to community agencies to ensure continuity of care. Education Requirement: Completion of basic Curriculum for Therapeutic Massage from an accredited School of Massage Therapy, required. Licensure Requirement: Licensure by the State of Ohio Medical Board, required. Certifications: Certification in Neuromuscular and Myofascial Massage Therapy, preferred. Certification in Newborn Massage Therapy or Infant Massage, preferred. Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, verbal, and written communication skills. Experience: Massage therapy experience in a hospital or pediatric setting, or clinical affiliation in pediatrics, required.
