No matter where your talents lie, join us and discover how we can advance health together.   Duke Health Integrated Practice Duke Health Integrated Practice comprises more than 110 primary and specialty outpatient clinics, extending the reach of the Duke Health mission across the state of North Carolina. $2,500 Commitment Bonus for qualifying candidates!    JOB LOCATION Duke Fertility Center - 5601 Arringdon Park Dr Suite 210, Morrisville, NC   JOB SUMMARY The primary responsibility of this position is to insure the proper collection of blood specimens for established procedures and protocols and to assist in the delivery of all specimens collected at Duke Fertility Clinic to the appropriate performing laboratory. Position also performs other functions as needed to support a Duke University Health System off-site practice.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED. For assignment to phlebotomy, completion of a structured phlebotomy training course and clinical rotation is recommended.
  • Minimal educational or experience requirements may be modified on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) director if minimal CLIA requirements are met by the employee for the tasks being performed.
  • Alternatively, an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
  • Must have at least 2 years experience as a Clin Tech I or Certification as a Phlebotomist plus achieve required competency level for specified job responsibilities.
  • For assignment to Phlebotomy Services, certification as a phlebotomist by a nationally recognized board/agency may be required; certification of Basic Life Support preferred.
  • National Healthcare Association (NHA) --Clinical Laboratory Phlebotomy Examination (CLPlb), American Society of Clinical Pathologists-- Phlebotomy Technician Examination [PBT(ASCP)], International Academy of Phlebotomy Sciences (IAPS), National Phlebotomy Association (NPA), American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT).

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine laboratory tests on premises (ex. venipuncture, POCT, Urine)
  • Perform basic processing and storage of specimens according to policy, including but not limited to: positively ID all patient specimens and verify all laboratory labels/requisitions, enter all specimens into Gajema Courier Packing system and call for STAT pickup when indicated.
  • Perform daily QC and temperature checks according to clinic policies.
  • Maintain inventory, including ensuring that stock is up to date and ordering supplies as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment; appropriately stock and clean exam rooms and lab area
  • Assist other clinic personnel in the delivery of patient care
  • Maintain all scheduled safety training and continuing education as required.
  • Perform other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by a provider or RN
