As an Ophthalmic Technician you will greet patients and explain what they should expect during their examination. An Ophthalmic Technician escorts the patient to an exam room and performs diagnostic ophthalmic tests and procedures prior to physician seeing them. Required schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7:45am to 4:30pm. What you will be doing Complete a detailed patient history including past medical history, family medical history and chief complaint Check patient's visual acuity which includes far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception Examine eyes for abnormalities Perform other tests and measurements including A-scans, B-scans, fundus photography, corneal topography, HRTII and pachymetry Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes Measures intraocular pressure of eyes (glaucoma test) Read patient's eyeglass prescription with automated lensometry Chart results in patient's electronic medical record Provide chair-side physician assistance as needed Prepare necessary paperwork for surgeries ordered by the physicians Give instructions to patients concerning eye care E-prescribe or phone in prescriptions for patients Maintain patient confidentiality following HIPAA regulations Ensure appropriate supplies/equipment are available and functional for patient care Required High school diploma or GED equivalent Valid driver's license and ability to drive a motor vehicle Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time and lift up to 50lbs Desired One (1) or more years of experience working in a medical practice Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience Knowledge of medical terminology What you will receive Competitive wages Robust benefit package including medical, dental, life and disability (short- and long-term) insurance Generous paid time off (PTO) program Seven (7) company paid holidays 401(k) retirement plan with company match Uniform reimbursement An organization focused on People, Passion, Purpose and Progress Inspirational culture About Midwest Vision Partners Midwest Vision Partners was founded in 2019 to build a premier eye care platform in partnership with Alpine Investors, a San Francisco-based private equity firm.
