About The Position

Project Recovery is a mission-driven substance use disorder clinic committed to harm reduction and low-barrier, evidence-based treatment. They meet people where they are, working as a team to support access, continuity, and dignity in care. The Clinical Support Specialist supports daily clinic flow and patient navigation across services. This role is vital in ensuring timely, coordinated, and compassionate care by reducing barriers to treatment, supporting clinic flow, provider communication, and patient navigation. Clinical Support Specialists are often the behind-the-scenes problem solvers—anticipating needs, smoothing transitions, and making sure no one falls through the cracks. This work has a real, daily impact on patient outcomes, team efficiency, and the overall quality of care delivered.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily clinic flow to maintain efficient operations and a positive patient experience
  • Assist with navigation for new and returning patient visits, including pre- and post-visit needs
  • Troubleshoot telemedicine connection issues in real time
  • Coordinate patient care by supporting providers with follow-up, referrals, and care logistics
  • Manage incoming and outgoing communications across multiple platforms (phone, EMR, fax, etc.)
  • Process and organize EMR tasks, including patient messages, referrals, and external documents
  • Complete and track prior authorizations (training provided)
  • Update financial eligibility and assist with pharmacy-related documentation
  • Perform CLIA-waived laboratory testing and coordinate lab send-outs (training provided, where applicable)
  • Prepare and distribute patient education and resource materials
  • Provide front desk support, including: Greeting and checking in patients
  • Answering phones and directing calls appropriately
  • Scheduling and confirming appointments
  • Verifying patient information and insurance details
  • Collecting and documenting required forms
