About The Position

This position is responsible for coordinating the Neuromuscular Clinical Laboratory in the Department of Neurology. This position includes duties associated with general administrative services, clinical functions, and billing related activities. This position requires an individual with strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provides customer support for clients, faculty and staff in a friendly and helpful manner while providing a positive, professional, courteous and empathetic understanding to all customers.
  • Exhibits high quality performance through accuracy, attention to detail and commitment in a timely manner.
  • Accepts and electronically receives laboratory specimens for all sections of the laboratory, including registering patients into medical record and laboratory information systems.
  • Oversees the procurement of materials from outside institutions in support of clinical testing performed by laboratories.
  • Prepares and sends materials to reference laboratories in support of clinical testing not provided internally.
  • Effectively troubleshoots errors and problems in order to ensure pre-analytic accuracy in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of insurance industry.
  • Performs insurance verification for testing to ensure accurate and timely payment for services.
  • Calls insurance companies for precertification when required.
  • Effectively prioritizes workload to ensure completion of duties within stated expectations.
  • Management & administration of Electronic Medical Records Systems & Information Technology Interfaces including: Co-Path registration for all specimens, Co-Path system troubleshooting, coordination of Co-Path requirements for CAP, NY, CA, & FL licensures, serves as Co-Path and Epic liaison for all lab personnel and physicians, facilitates Co-Path and Epic training and ensures compliance of training requirements for all lab personnel and physicians.
  • Ensures receipt of complete and accurate requisitions from outside facilities.
  • Provides laboratory cost quotes to outside facilities.
  • Enters CPT charges into Co-Path for billing interface .
  • Fulfills client requests as needed.
  • Assists with additional projects as needed.
