Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, psychiatric nursing, or closely related field with: – At least three (3) years of professional experience in behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment – At least one (1) year of supervisory experience in substance use disorder treatment OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, psychiatric nursing, or closely related field with: – At least four (4) years of professional experience in behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment – At least two (2) years of supervisory experience in substance use disorder treatment AND
  • Qualified Addiction Professional certified by the Missouri Credentialing Board, Inc. (or applicable State Board) with: – At least four (4) years of professional experience in substance use disorder treatment – At least three (3) years of supervisory experience in substance use disorder treatment OR
  • Counselor, psychologist, or physician licensed in Missouri with: – At least one (1) year of professional experience in substance use disorder treatment – At least one (1) year of supervisory experience in substance use disorder treatment
  • Physician licensed in Missouri to practice medicine or osteopathy with training in mental health
  • Psychiatrist licensed under Missouri law
  • Psychologist licensed in Missouri with specialized training in mental health services
  • Licensed professional counselor under applicable state law with specialized mental health training
  • Clinical social worker with a Master’s degree in social work from an accredited program
  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in counseling, behavioral health counseling, vocational counseling, psychology, pastoral counseling, family therapy, or related field with completed practicum or one (1) year supervised experience under a mental health professional
  • Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance
  • Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint screening
  • First Aid certification within three (3) months of employment and upon renewal
  • CPR certification within three (3) months of employment and upon renewal
  • Behavioral Management training within thirty (30) days of employment or first available class (CPI for Residential programs; Crisis Management or Verbal De-escalation for Outpatient programs)
  • Completion of thirty-six (36) hours of training within a two (2) year period in accordance with 9 CSR 10-7.110 E 1
  • Annual maintenance of all required licenses and certifications
  • Strong knowledge of clinical best practices, regulatory standards, and court procedures related to mental health and substance use treatment
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and corrective coaching skills
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and implement effective solutions

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate weekly clinical case staffing, diagnostic disposition meetings, and team meetings to ensure high-quality, coordinated care
  • Provide direct clinical services including intakes, individual, family, and group therapy to maintain required contact hours
  • Supervise and mentor assigned team members through regular supervision, performance evaluations, corrective coaching, and individualized training plans
  • Monitor service delivery to ensure appropriate frequency, clinical justification, and adherence to quality standards
  • Review documentation, progress notes, and client records to ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and agency requirements
  • Coordinate with community partners and external agencies to ensure comprehensive, integrated care for clients and families
  • Oversee scheduling and staffing to ensure uninterrupted program coverage in accordance with licensing standards
  • Monitor program budget, review service units, and collaborate with leadership to develop quarterly fiscal projections
  • Implement and support Quality Management initiatives, including record reviews, performance indicators, and continuous improvement strategies
  • Respond to crisis situations and ensure timely and accurate incident reporting
  • Maintain oversight of environmental safety, facility standards, and operational needs in collaboration with site management
  • Communicate organizational updates, champion change initiatives, and promote a collaborative, team-focused culture
