A caregiver in this role will help support South East Cuyahoga and Geauga Counties. The Clinical Speech Pathologist evaluates and treats patients, supervises work performed by staff and contributes to the management of daily operations. This role provides autonomy and opportunities to grow as a clinician. This is a home care role that involves travel to patients' homes in the community to provide care to them at their homes. A caregiver in this position works 20 hours/week, Monday - Friday plus weekend and holiday rotation. This is a health benefit eligible position! A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology.
  • Speech-Language Pathology licensure (SP) in the State of Ohio.
  • Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s license upon hire; per policy 8-175 thereafter.
  • Proof of automobile insurance coverage with $100,000/$300,000 coverage, upon hire; per policy 8-175 thereafter.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient to perform tests.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience as a Clinical Speech Language Pathologist.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial and on-going assessments of patient’s condition and establishes goal and plan of care which are appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient/family according to their capabilities and desires.
  • Perform therapy interventions using standard speech therapy techniques and skills appropriate for the patient's age and condition.
  • Evaluate communication and swallowing function of patients.
  • Select assistive speech devices to improve patient’s communication.
  • Maintain complete and up-to-date documentation and files regarding patient condition and effectiveness and timeliness of care and interventions.
  • Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary assessment of assigned patients.
  • Participate as a member of the hospice interdisciplinary team when necessary.
