About The Position

The Clinical Social Worker (CSW)’s primary responsibilities are psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, consultation, coaching, education, community linkages and supportive services for identified patients, families and staff. The CSW coordinates resources and services in response to individual patient’s psychosocial needs, situation and fiscal realities. The CSW is an active member of the interdisciplinary team contributing to team goal setting, ensuring appropriate utilization of resources. The CSW acts as a consultant to the clinical team, service lines and other departments and participates in program development and quality improvement initiatives. The CSW provides identity-appropriate assessments, interpretation of data, and delivery of interventions. All CSWs demonstrates the ability to work with any patient regardless of race, gender, religious affiliation, cultural beliefs, lifestyle, disease process or treatment plan. Requirements

  • Master’s degree from a CSWE-accredited School of Social Work.
  • Experience (internship or career) in healthcare, mental health, and/or child protection settings involving children and families.
  • Experience with crisis de-escalation and trauma-informed care.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-volume environment.
  • Proficient in phone, text/pager, internet, and electronic documentation systems.
  • Flexibility to work across UCSF Medical Center locations.
  • Current California State License as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) (required for CSW III).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with pediatric patients.
  • Fluency in a second language, especially Spanish.
  • Epic experience strongly preferred.
