Under the clinical supervision of the Department Director and/or Manager (or LCSW / LICSW), utilizes clinical social work techniques and theory to provide consultation, assessment, treatment interventions, and advocacy for a diverse population of patients and their families. Utilizes a biopsychosocial approach to healthcare while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to provide case management and crisis intervention for a wide range of complex social factors and determinants of health. This role is part of the Moakley Hematology Oncology Social Work Team, with a primary focus on supporting patients with cancer diagnoses within the oncology clinic. The social worker will provide comprehensive psychosocial support to patients and families across the cancer care continuum. Responsibilities include providing emotional support and counseling, assisting patients in navigating complex medical systems, facilitating access to community and financial resources, supporting adherence to treatment plans, and addressing barriers related to social determinants of health. The social worker will also collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team to advocate for patient-centered, equitable, and compassionate care. In the oncology clinic, the social worker will support patients and families coping with a cancer diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and, when applicable, end-of-life care. This includes crisis intervention, care coordination, and ongoing assessment of psychosocial needs to enhance overall patient well-being and care outcomes.
