About The Position

Our rapidly growing orthopedic practice is seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Operating Officer (COO) with strong clinical and operational leadership experience. The COO will oversee daily operations across 12 clinic locations, ensure delivery of high-quality patient care, and lead organizational initiatives that support growth, efficiency, and clinical excellence. This role is ideal for a strategic healthcare leader with hands-on experience in orthopedic, musculoskeletal, or surgical care environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or related field.
  • 5–10+ years of clinical experience in an orthopedic, surgical, or multispecialty environment.
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience within a healthcare organization, including multi-site operations.
  • Proven track record improving clinical workflows, quality outcomes, and operational performance.
  • Strong knowledge of orthopedic service lines, ambulatory clinical operations, and provider workflows.
  • Strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Ability to manage complex, fast-paced environments with competing priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree (MHA, MBA, MSN, or related field).
  • Experience managing organizations with 200+ employees and multiple locations.
  • Familiarity with EMR optimization, value-based care, and outpatient surgical services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive oversight of day-to-day clinical and administrative operations across all 12 practice locations.
  • Develop and implement operational systems, workflows, and best practices to improve efficiency, patient access, and clinic performance.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, including state board regulations, OSHA, and HIPAA.
  • Lead initiatives to improve patient throughput, appointment scheduling, and care coordination.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapy staff, and clinical teams to maintain high standards of orthopedic care.
  • Monitor clinical quality metrics, patient outcomes, and safety initiatives to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support evidence-based practice, clinical pathway development, and adoption of new technologies or treatments.
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical staff and executive leadership to ensure alignment of goals and expectations.
  • Partner with the CEO and CFO to develop and execute strategic plans for growth, service line expansion, and operational improvement.
  • Oversee budgeting for clinical operations, staffing, and resource allocation.
  • Evaluate operational and financial data to improve productivity, cost efficiency, and profitability.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop clinical and administrative leaders across the organization.
  • Manage workforce planning, staffing models, and performance management for 350+ employees.
  • Foster a collaborative, mission-driven culture focused on patient experience and employee engagement.
