About The Position

The Scheduling Associate is responsible for electronic scheduling of patients. Responsibilities Schedules patients for diagnostic services. Schedules patients and procedures for multiple diagnostic studies at several locations. Utilizes scheduling guidelines to include documentation of indications and contraindications to ensure appropriate studies are ordered. Coordinates proper sequencing of studies and scheduling protocols when scheduling multiple studies. Cancels/reschedules patients as requested by patients, provider or staff. Provides diagnostic preparation information to patients. Proactively schedules each area to ensure all available time is used appropriately by scheduling sequentially when possible. Ensures completeness and accuracy of patient information. Identifies patient name, date of birth, and social security number without duplication of medical record numbers. Obtains appropriate signatures, copies all insurance cards and driver's license as directed. Processes diagnostic services scheduling request queues and all inbound faxes. Obtains and manages healthcare provider orders. Verifies orders and makes any necessary changes to scheduling procedure. Manages all incoming orders from fax server. Manages all Diagnostic Scheduling Request Queues and ensures patients are scheduled in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High School or GED
  • Associate's Degree In medical office administration, information technology, computer science, or related degree; Completed courses in Medical Terminology, and/or Anatomy and Physiology
  • 1 Customer service and/or healthcare setting, including experience using computer applications in a professional environment
  • Using advanced medical terminology in a clinical setting
  • Excellent communication and comprehension skills
  • Proficient skills in computer applications including Microsoft office
  • Proficient skills using medical terminology and processing medical information
