About The Position

The Clinical Resource Nurse – Triage and Baylor provides clinical leadership and guidance to nursing staff during after-hours and weekend coverage. This role supports interdisciplinary groups (IDGs) by offering clinical expertise, mentoring new hires, participating in quality improvement efforts, and ensuring compliance with state and federal healthcare standards. The position serves as a liaison between triage, Baylor nurses, and organizational leadership to promote effective patient care and education.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of hospice care principles and nursing practices
  • Effective communication and active listening skills
  • Proficient in end-of-life care documentation and patient evaluation
  • Skilled in critical thinking, problem-solving, and resource management
  • Ability to lead and motivate clinical teams
  • Minimum of three (3) years in medical/surgical, homecare, long-term care, or hospice nursing
  • Current RN licensure in the State of Florida
  • Valid CPR certification
  • Current driver’s license with a clean driving record acceptable to insurance standards
  • Medical clearance for communicable diseases prior to direct patient contact
  • Current immunizations, including but not limited to TB, Hepatitis, and Flu
  • Participation in required continuing education and in-service training programs
  • Adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics and state nursing practice laws

Responsibilities

  • Precept new hires post-orientation and mentor ongoing clinical development.
  • Teach intentional visit standards and audit for integration into nursing practice.
  • Serve as a resource to staff, patients, families, and community agencies regarding hospice care.
  • Support accurate electronic documentation, ePrescribing, and data systems.
  • Conduct record audits in alignment with compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with compliance, IT, HR, and patient-care departments.
  • Facilitate and/or participate in IDG meetings and quality initiatives.
  • Maintain quality staffing through mentorship, training, and evaluation.
  • Assist with staff performance evaluations and corrective action when necessary.
  • Train staff on core competencies such as IV therapy, wound care, tube feeding, pain management, and other advanced nursing skills.
  • Track and report key quality indicators to improve performance.
  • Address and document patient care occurrences, compliments, and complaints.
  • Participate in public speaking and community education efforts.
  • May work weekends and holidays; must be flexible with work schedule and location.
  • Ensure operational compliance with hospice regulations.
  • Promote a professional environment through courteous conduct and appropriate dress.
  • Support and participate in QAPI and staff development programs.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
