About The Position

The California Heart Center is an affiliate of the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute, located in Beverly Hills, California, 90211. We offer the full spectrum of cardiology care, including, Cardiac Evaluation/Adult Cardiology, Heart Failure Management, Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology and Echocardiography. The mission of the California Heart Center is to integrate quality health care, clinical research, and continuing education to create an environment where advances are developed for the immediate benefit of patients. In addition to our private cardiology practice, CA Heart Center physicians are active clinical research investigators and hold leadership positions in heart failure, heart transplantation, and mechanical cardiac assist devices and heart failure/transplant clinical research at the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute (CSHI). In addition to its highly-regarded cardiology program, CSHI is doing groundbreaking work in other important cardiovascular areas, including cardiac stem cell transplants and non-surgical heart valve replacements. The clinical research internship is designed for undergraduates, post-graduates and medical students who want to enrich their educational experience with a clinical research exposure. The goal of this project-based clinical research opportunity is to improve cardiovascular health with a focus on heart transplantation and heart failure and to provide students with the opportunity to apply knowledge from the classroom to real world, professional environments. Participants will complete a retrospective research project under the direction of a physician-investigator and also directly observe clinical patient care while spending time with attending physicians. Requirements

  • Applicants must at least be a candidate for a bachelor’s degree in a science or health care related field.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet applications) are required.
  • Highly proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint), email, internet
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to understand and follow complex, detailed instructions
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
  • Ability to understand and follow scientific research protocols

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in clinical research, data entry, database management, literature review, or statistical analysis a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct scientific literature reviews on assigned topics
  • Draft data collection tools for research queries
  • Collect demographic and medical information from multiple sources, including medical records
  • Manage data in project spreadsheets, ensuring data integrity and accuracy
  • Assist in preparation of study results for abstracts and manuscript submissions to peer-review forums
  • Participate in weekly research staff meetings
  • Complete training in the protection of human subjects; adhering to HIPAA requirements.
