Clinical Research Intern (part time) - CA Heart Foundation - Medical Network
About The Position
The clinical research internship is designed for undergraduates, post-graduates and medical students who want to enrich their educational experience with a clinical research exposure. The goal of this project-based clinical research opportunity is to improve cardiovascular health with a focus on heart transplantation and heart failure and to provide students with the opportunity to apply knowledge from the classroom to real world, professional environments. Participants will complete a retrospective research project under the direction of a physician-investigator and also directly observe clinical patient care while spending time with attending physicians. This internship is designed to be for the Summer- lasting 3 months in duration.
Responsibilities
- Conduct scientific literature reviews on assigned topics
- Draft data collection tools for research queries
- Collect demographic and medical information from multiple sources, including medical records
- Manage data in project spreadsheets, ensuring data integrity and accuracy
- Assist in preparation of study results for abstracts and manuscript submissions to peer-review forums
- Participate in weekly research staff meetings
- Complete training in the protection of human subjects; adhering to HIPAA requirements.
