About The Position

The Balderston lab at the Center for Neuromodulation in Depression and Stress (CNDS) is seeking a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator A to work on research studies focused on the neuroscience of fear and anxiety. The coordinator will collaborate closely with the principal investigator and other CNDS staff. This role involves training in human neuroimaging research using tools such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and psychophysiology tools like electromyography and electrocardiography. Additionally, the coordinator will be trained to administer clinical scales to psychiatric patients. The position is contingent on continued funding and offers an excellent opportunity to gain research experience for those preparing for medical school or graduate school in psychology, neuroscience, engineering, or biostatistics.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and 1 year to 2 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Effective problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Well-suited for work in a fast-paced work environment that requires effective time management and a willingness to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong quantitative analytical skills and data management skills.
  • Prior experience working with MRI and/or TMS.
  • Previous experience administering clinical scales.
  • Some statistical knowledge and experience in data analysis.
  • Knowledge of python or a similar language.
  • Experience with neuroimaging analysis using AFNI, FSL, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting, maintaining, and organizing all questionnaires, assessments, demographic data, and imaging data of the participants.
  • Conducting recruitment.
  • Screening and enrolling potential study patients as specified per protocol.
  • Performing regulatory duties such as preparation and submission of regulatory documents through the IRB (initial submissions, amendments, and continuations).
  • Developing skills across a number of research methodologies, neuroimaging software, and data analysis tools.
