About The Position

The Clinical Research Contract Specialist reports to the Finance Manager and works directly with the Clinical Research Accounting Specialist and Accounting Assistant. This role involves ensuring timely, consistent, and up-to-date completion of responsibilities with limited supervision. The specialist will also be available to assist the Site Strategy Team with tasks as requested.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge of clinical research and medical terminology
  • 2 years experience in clinical research
  • Strong computer skills with Excel, Microsoft Word
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Must be detail oriented and organized
  • The ability to work in a fast pace environment and be flexible
  • Ability to sit at desk for entire workday (10hrs)
  • Self-Starter and can work independently

Responsibilities

  • Negotiates all initial clinical trial contracts, budgets, and agreements
  • Renegotiates established contracts, budgets, and agreements as needed
  • Obtains contract executions on all contracts, budgets, and agreements within 60 days of receipt
  • Obtains signatures on documents within 2 business days through electronic signature process.
  • Reviews and determines budget amendment requests necessity and completes those requests as necessary
  • Negotiates master service agreements with all sponsors, CROs, Third Parties
  • Creates and executes partner agreements and statements of work for partner groups
  • Evaluates and maintains insurance credentials for contract liabilities for AARA, AARR, and Affiliate Sites
  • Identifies vendors and staff roles through protocol review during contracting using vendor dashboard, and notifies project manager of any unmet needs
  • Establishes and renews vendor and third-party contracts, accounts, and financial agreements based on site and protocol needs
  • Provides completed contract and accounting information required for study start-up on the study dashboard and notifies admin team of contract execution completion
  • Performs initial and complete study build in CTMS in conjunction with eSource creation
  • Updates CTMS study build with protocol, budget, and staff amendments and any changes as needed
  • Provides meaningful metrics on budget profits, negotiation efficiency, and increase rates from initial offers
  • Develops and maintain a research rate card in accordance with Fair Market Value
  • Maintains accurate document management on shared drive of all contracts, budgets, and agreements, to include both clean and fully executed versions for all
  • Works with various staff members, coordinators, department managers, physicians and vendors to understand impacts and requirements of new study protocols
  • Cultivates positive relationships with Sponsors/CROs and vendors to understand processes and create mutual opportunities for improvement
  • Seeks and vets new opportunities for the research department to achieve company and department improvements, goals and objectives
  • Acts as backup for Accounting Specialist and performs duties in office, as required
  • Assists with additional duties as needed and assigned by the Finance Manager
