About The Position

We are again working with a government entity in Austin, Texas, to find a Research Specialist to support a number of ongoing state projects. You must live in Austin or be easily commutable to downtown Austin to be eligible for this role This will be a six-month contract initially, with the possibility of extension or a permanent position. This position requires you to be on-site downtown in the Capitol building 5 days per week. The Research Specialist works in close coordination with the agency to conduct and administer research on external projects. This will involve project planning, coordinating, and conducting economic and financial assessments, and then sharing your findings with your team and leadership. We are looking for someone who can conduct requirements gathering and understand the parameters and measurements of the projects quickly, then deliver information accordingly.

Requirements

  • Five (3-5) years of professional experience in research and/or economic analysis.
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in business or public administration, economics, political science, statistical analysis, research methodology, or a related field; and
  • Knowledge of economic development and relevant local, state, and federal programs.( How things work project-wise in the state )
  • Knowledge of relevant information sources, including governmental data websites and proprietary business research tools.
  • Knowledge of Texas-specific issues in economic development.
  • Knowledge of statistical concepts and methods and their application to research analysis.
  • Skill in conducting qualitative and quantitative research.

Nice To Haves

  • If you have knowledge of the semiconductor industry in some capacity, that would be very well received.

Responsibilities

  • Determines the scope and methodologies of research projects and areas to be evaluated.
  • Develops policies and procedures used in conducting and administering research.
  • Develops quality assurance procedures and conducts quality assurance reviews on research projects.
  • Consults and provides technical advice on research methods and techniques.
  • Formulates and monitors long-range research objectives, programs, and priorities.
  • Plans, gathers, and interprets state and national economic and industrial data to develop and present your findings.
  • Maintains familiarity with current data tools, including federal and state government resources (e.g., U.S. Department of Commerce’s CHIPS Program Office)
  • Prepares and conducts presentations.
