About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: The Clinical Quality Supervisor will support the organization’s quality initiatives through quality assurance of documentation collected in TOSA’s electronic donor management system. This position oversees Quality audits and processes based on regulatory standards and TOSA protocols. The Supervisor supports the Quality Services department to ensure compliance and promote accuracy of all reported information. This position may be required, on occasion, to travel by company or personal automobile or commercial aircraft to accomplish the job responsibilities. The incumbent will have access to confidential material and needs to use discretion with this information and strictly adheres to the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance confidentiality policy.

Requirements

  • Extensive background/experience in quality assurance and nursing or related health care field.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and applies skills pertaining to computer technology, data management, documentation, and flow of information in the health care and, particularly, the organ donation and allocation.
  • Functional skills related to performance and quality improvement, policy development, team performance, as well as, data, technical, analytical, problem solving, organizational and communication skills.
  • Must have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, terminology and procedures in healthcare and quality.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with organizational staff.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and provides real time support for the systematic and timely quality assurance reviews of referral data and organ donor records to ensure accuracy and compliance with TOSA’s policies and procedures, as well as CMS and FDA regulations, UNOS policies, AOPO standards.
  • Assists with oversight of the submission and validation of externally mandated data and information.
  • Assists with organizing CQI initiatives and/or special projects as they emerge.
  • Participates in Quality systems meetings, post donor meetings and clinical forums as appropriate.
  • Performs internal audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with TOSA’s policies and procedures, as well as CMS and FDA regulations, UNOS policies, AOPO standards.
  • Assists with oversight in variance discovery and application.
  • Works in conjunction with the Quality manager for necessary corrections and follow-up for clinical staff.
  • Independently performs Deceased Donor Registration (DDR) reporting
  • Independently performs Donor Management Guidelines (DMG) Workgroup upload and communicates with Clinical leadership for data submission.
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgement when making decisions based on compliance and regulatory criteria.
  • Accountable to the TOSA's confidentiality policy of both patient information and employee performance.
  • Assists in reviewing non-conformances via TOSA's variance tracking system.
  • Responsible for creating audit records in TOSA's quality management system.
  • Prepares accurate and timely reports of audit finding.
  • Assists in the submission and validation of externally mandated data and information.
  • Determines clinical education needs based on performance and needs assessments.
  • Keeps the Manager of Quality Services informed on key functions of the position and progress related to key organizational issues and objectives including variances and plans to improve performance.
  • Develops and maintains positive and effective working relationships with internal staff as well as representatives of external entities with which the organization interacts.
