About The Position

Plans, develops, coordinates and directs the clinical quality and education program elements of the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery program. Oversees the execution of procedures and adherence to proper protocols and develops and/or administers clinical performance improvement initiatives for the program. Assumes responsibility for program quality and compliance, and the education and competency of nursing staff. Serves as a clinical and educational consultant to the nursing staff, medical staff, management, patients and other members of the health care team regarding the program. Develops, implements, and evaluates trauma community education outreach and injury prevention. Provide direct patient care as needed, on an irregular basis.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • RN-Registered Nurse of California
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Provider, instructor preferred.
  • Must complete ATS Trauma Registrar Course, Trauma-specific ICD-10 training, and ISS Scoring Course within 1 year of hire
  • 5 years recent relevant experience in the care of trauma patients, ED or critical care experience preferred.
  • Expert knowledge and competence with regard to nursing theories, concepts and practices; medical terminology; anatomy; and physiology.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare industry, safety precaution policies, best practices regarding patient care and privacy, and changes in local/state/federal regulations.
  • Knowledge relating to healthcare delivery, project management, and quality improvement.
  • Experience defining, configuring, accessing, querying, and validating data.
  • Ability to work independently; receives minimal guidance.
  • Written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
  • Knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Outlook), Electronic Health Record (EPIC preferred).
  • Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
  • Identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
  • Ensure the privacy of each patient's protected health information (PHI).
  • Build collaborate relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) instructor preferred.
  • ED or critical care experience preferred.
