About The Position

The Emergency Department (ED) Clinical Pharmacy Specialist provides advanced clinical pharmacy services in a high‑acuity, fast‑paced emergency care environment. This role supports safe, effective, and evidence‑based medication use by delivering direct patient care, participating in emergency response efforts, performing real‑time medication order verification, and leading medication reconciliation activities. The specialist acts as a key clinical resource to ED physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff, and is actively involved in protocol development, quality improvement, and educational initiatives.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)- required
  • Current pharmacist license (or eligibility) within the state of Missouri- required
  • PGY1 Pharmacy Residency- required
  • Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Specialty Certification (BCEMP) preferred or ability to obtain within 2 years of hire- required
  • Demonstrated competency in medication reconciliation and medication safety- required

Nice To Haves

  • Emergency Medicine or Critical Care experience- preferred
  • PGY2 in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, or related specialty- preferred
