The clinical services director provides unbiased information and strategic guidance to Provider Solutions customers and internal stakeholders. This position is responsible for improving McKesson customer profitability via demonstrating use and value of McKesson clinical and business tools, providing clinical/operations/pharmacoeconomic surveillance support to physician practice customers, and development and maintenance of clinical tools, products and content with focus on oncology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, neurology, and ophthalmology. The clinical services director will lead projects internally and with our provider customers using their advanced knowledge and provider segment experience. This field position reports to the Sr. Director of Clinical Services. This position requires 50% travel, candidates will work from home remotely from their residence.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent is required.
  • Active Pharmacist license required.
  • 7+ years of oncology pharmacy experience required; management in oncology pharmacy is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of community oncology and multispecialty practices
  • Knowledge of payer, regulatory, compliance & licensure issues at the federal and state level relative to community oncology and multispecialty pharmacy
  • Experience influencing physicians and practice administrators around appropriate oncology drug therapy
  • Proven experience managing many diverse projects and programs related to oncology pharmacy services that have demonstrated positive results on patient outcomes are required.
  • Success managing ongoing relationships, including primarily remote communications and technology.
  • Experience working with and analyzing data, including pharmacoeconomics
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, to successfully look at system improvements in the clinical and business areas and interact with stakeholders
  • Ability to structure useful guidance around complex strategy decisions to influence and guide the decisions made by others
  • Strong orientation and commitment to external and internal customer service

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with Provider Solutions Leadership, GPO team, and Onmark customers, develops and implement strategies to optimize drug use initiatives.
  • The Clinical Specialist is an advisor to Provider Solutions customers. In this role they use their independent judgement to provide the following to customers: Clinical information including but not limited to: clinical drug information (indications, administration, stability & storage) and drug pipeline information. Operational best practices. Examples include implementation of new drug or new workflow for drug dispensing or administration; workflows for implementing biosimilars; discussions concerning staffing.
  • Advise and educate practices on implementing regulatory processes; example is USP 800 implementation and advisement on SOPs, necessary workflow, equipment, room set-up, and training.
  • Lead and collaborate on projects individualized for a specific customers based on the customer need.
  • Assist and direct customer practices, along with regional team members (GPO, Sales), in improving customer practice profitability.
  • Present pharmacoeconomic information to customers using Analytics Dashboard
  • Discuss therapeutic interchange opportunities and crowded therapeutic areas with clinicians and administrators at the practice. Discussion to include, but not limited to, clinical drug information, economics, and operations.
  • Provide clinical quarterly business reviews with clinicians at the practice to discuss specific customer initiatives and advise on clinical information and operational best practices.
  • Analyze drug economics and clinical trending to support drug strategies for our customers
  • Support sales personnel strategic selling of clinical tools and services to customers
  • Train sales team on the value of tools and services
  • Work with sales to identify target practices for tools and services using expert knowledge and experience of working in clinical practice. This includes assisting sales with an individual approach for customers using the knowledge of the customer practice.
  • Assist business development in conversations with prospect customers showcasing the knowledge of the team and expertise McKesson will bring to the practice.
  • Serve as in house experts on oncology and multispecialty provider topics for internal business units across the Enterprise
  • Provide training in collaboration with sales effectiveness that is at a broad scale (new hire training, NSC, regional sales meetings). Topics may be clinical or provider operations related.
  • Provide individualized training and coaching for individuals new to provider space and/or oncology/MSPL. This training may be on clinical topics and operational topics.
  • Provide training and share resources as needed across the Enterprise; this includes but is not limited to the GPO, Multisource, Network, Intrafusion, MHS and Medical Surgical segments.
  • Lead and collaborate on projects with internal teams.
  • Provide practice-based feedback to Provider Solutions and appropriate teams regarding clinical programs, tools and services.
  • Communicate suggestions for improvement, opportunities for new tool or service development to relevant personnel and/or teams.
  • Establish relationships within practices, demonstrate use and value of tools, assist practice partner with tool/service implementation.
  • Identify target practices based on sales team sell strategy, practice criteria for successful clinical tool/service implementation
  • Assist with drug therapy utilization reports to identify and analyze therapeutic target areas for customers.
  • Attend and present at strategic local, regional, and national conferences as a Subject Matter Expert in which presence or presentation would assist in developing relationship with target practices.
  • Author articles for publication as subject matter experts.
  • Develop and maintain clinical content for customers. Examples include new drug information sheets, drug comparison charts, best practices for drug shortages, operational best practices, and SOP templates.
  • Development and maintenance of tools required for standardization and benchmarking programs (Regimen Profiler, Analytics Dashboard).
  • Provide direct clinical and operational support to help physician practice customers understand and implement these clinical tools and services
  • Provide customer-based feedback to all McKesson divisions as warranted.
  • Other duties as assigned by immediate manager.
