The Critical Care Pharmacist provides patient-centered care to patients for adult ICU patients. This position must: provide pharmaceutical care to patients to achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes; promote cost-effective drug therapy; provide assistance in educating pharmacy students, PGY1 and PGY2 residents; participate in research projects to improve the outcomes for critically ill patients; participate on Medical Center and Department committees; adhere to the general hospital standards to promote cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building; assist with verification of medication orders and distribution of pharmaceutical products; coordinate and participate in the education of pharmacist and other health care professionals in regards to critical care pharmacotherapy; initiate and/or participate in medication utilization evaluations; participate in the drug therapy management in emergency situations; assist in developing and implementing treatment protocols in order to improve patient care. Supervise technicians to ensure timely and accurate medication dispensing, optimizing staff utilization. Deliver pharmaceutical care for optimal patient outcomes. Contribute to quality improvement efforts through teamwork. Continuously update and document skills and knowledge. Maintain documentation for compliance with standards and regulations. Set personal goals to support departmental objectives. Provide age-appropriate care following guidelines. Foster a cooperative work environment through effective communication and teamwork.
