About The Position

Under general supervision of the medical staff, following policies, procedures and professional guidelines, assists with all procedures requiring the use of Cardio-Pulmonary Bypass, ECMO, Mechanical Assist Devices to include short and long-term, Cell Saver and other related Bypass procedures. Provides, assembles and cares for all perfusion supplies, instruments and equipment before, during and after procedures, cleans and maintains all perfusion equipment, and assists perfusion team leader with ordering and stocking all perfusion supplies and equipment in the surgical suites. Administers medication under the direction of the physician.   • Technical Program Accredited Perfusion Training Program
  • American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusionists

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates current knowledge of the types of bypass procedures/techniques and cell saving procedures MCS, TransMedic devices performed and of the instruments, equipment and supplies required to perform these procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the proper care, cleaning and maintaining of all perfusion instrumentation, equipment and supplies used in bypass procedures.
  • Is able to read and interpret laboratory test as applicable to all bypass/cell saver procedures and takes appropriate actions under the direction of the surgeon.
  • Ensures that instrumentation and equipment is properly cleaned, prepared and assembled and in proper working order.
  • Maintains all required documentation of scheduled service on all perfusion equipment.
  • Maintains accurate records of all patient care activities and charges
