About The Position

The Clinical Nursing Supervisor maintains a 24-hour accountability for leading and managing the nurses at the Crisis Stabilization and Substance Abuse/Detox Unit. Is responsible for the clinical, financial and administrative operations of an assigned area in order to continuously improve the quality of patient care and create a healthy workplace for staff in collaboration with organizational leadership. Will also assist individuals with mental illness in the adult Crisis Stabilization Unit, Children’s Crisis Stabilization Unit, Detox and Residential Treatment Unit.

Requirements

  • RN license in the State of Florida.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ progressive leadership experience required with relevant clinical experience preferred.
  • BSN required.
  • Must have Intermediate to advanced experience in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), the use of personal computers, and standard office productivity software.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • A valid Class E Drivers’ License for driving personal or Agency vehicle on Agency business.
  • Must maintain a minimum Bodily Injury & Property Liability insurance limit of at least $50,000 for positions that require driving personal own vehicle (POV) on Agency business.
  • PPBH is a 24/7 Agency. All employees must be available as needed when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Psychiatric Nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with medical staff to monitor patient outcomes; set clinical quality priorities, recommend and implement professional improvements and initiatives and implement unit based client safety initiatives.
  • Effectively manages and directs the Crisis Stabilization/Substance Abuse Units while providing regular operational and clinical supervision.
  • Monitor quality in the departments to meet organizational goals and develop action plans to address specific concerns and improve quality.
  • Interviews, hires, and trains clinical staff to ensure the department is staffed 24/7/365.
  • Maintains adequate staff coverage for the unit, on a daily basis, that is within the guidelines of DCF and that maintains the safety of the clients and staff.
  • Is readily available during daily operating hours and on-call by phone after hours for clinical consultation with staff.
  • Organizes and holds monthly staff meetings.
  • Utilizes evidence-based practice to support improvement in clinical care.
  • Supports and encourages involvement of staff nurses in the development and implementation of evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains productive working relationships internally and externally by building teams and relationships through mentoring and modeling positive communication.
  • Resolves and manages conflict effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Cares for clients and self by planning a department work schedule in collaboration with team members that supports safety, appropriate worked hours and a healthy lifestyle.
  • Coaches staff on cultural diversity and addresses workplace horizontal violence and impairment.
  • Creates an environment which recognizes and values differences in staff, physicians, clients and communities.
  • Establishes a culture of caring by promoting decisions that are client centered.
  • Ensures that nurses practice in accordance with established Clinical Standards of Performance as defined by PPBH, professional and regulatory organizations.
  • Demonstrates sound fiscal responsibility by holding staff accountable for the efficient use of resources, but not limited to managing to meet client care needs.
  • Sets high standards of performance for self and others by imposing standards of excellence and development of skills that are innovative, optimistic and supportive of professional growth.
  • Creates developmental paths and plans for staff to increase their expertise and caliber of staff.
  • Preform other duties as required by Supervisor.
