About The Position

We are seeking a Clinical Nurse to work in the Division of Cardiology at the Green Spring and GBMC outpatient locations. This position supports Cardiologists with their outpatient clinical duties. The incumbent is accountable for the delivery of comprehensive care, in collaboration with the provider and other members of the health care team, to the client population through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation; This role helps foster an environment that optimizes client well-being and outcomes. Additionally, the position will assist with stress testing at both locations.

Requirements

Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing.
Registered Nurse within the State of Maryland
Certification - Current CPR certification. If not certified currently, will need to complete certification within sixty (60) days of hire.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Responsibilities

Reviews physician EPIC-in-baskets on a daily basis, triaging appropriately.
Pends new medications and prescription refills in Epic for physician signature.
Assists with ordering patient lab and study tests as needed, and routing orders in EPIC to physicians for their co-signature.
Works with cardiology scheduling team to help schedule tests as needed.
Assists in completion of prior authorizations.
Follows up on lab and study test results, notifying the physician and patient as appropriate.
Returns patient phone calls and responds to appropriate Epic in-basket questions.
Prepares physicians for outpatient clinic appointments including obtaining detailed medical records for patients with complex medical histories and ensuring records are scanned into Epic.
Populates patient history in EPIC prior to appointments.
Generates patient problem lists as requested by physicians.
Is aware of the inclusion/exclusion criteria for ongoing clinical trials to help identify possible research candidates.
In some circumstances, the RN will also attend clinic with physicians, obtain/update history and interim concerns from patients, and help document patient clinic encounters in EPIC.
