About The Position

The primary purpose of the Clinical Nurse in the Main Operating Room is to provide safe, efficient, and compassionate care to surgical patients before, during, and after procedures, while supporting the surgical team and maintaining a sterile environment. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience in the Operating Room, with a focus on Robotics, Vascular, or General Surgery.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license. Upon Hire
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support If working in the following department: Nursing Post Anesthesia Care Unit (600160). Upon Hire
  • All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of Operating Room registered nursing experience in Robotics, General, or Vascular Access.
  • OCN - Oncology Nurse Certification Upon Hire
  • Certification in specialty practice area. Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Lead patients, families, and team members toward future care goals
  • Organize and prioritize patient care team workflow
  • Ensure continuity of care through discharge planning and coordination
  • Practice independently within nursing scope
  • Participate in unit-level shared decision-making
  • Identify and resolve barriers to care
  • Build partnerships to improve patient outcomes
  • Deliver compassionate, competent care using technology and procedures
  • Train and support team members in roles such as charge nurse and preceptor
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and advocate for patients
  • Apply research findings to daily practice
  • Lead or participate in evidence-based projects
  • Contribute to care delivery redesign
  • Integrate safety and quality standards into care
  • Minimize risk behaviors and report incidents
  • Support performance improvement and document care accurately
  • Perform other duties as assigned
