About The Position

Join our team as a Clinical Nurse Supervisor in Inpatient Acute/Critical Care Services. We're looking for a dynamic nursing professional eager to showcase compassionate, evidence-based nursing care skills and make a meaningful impact. Role Overview: Oversee the coordination of patient flow throughout the hospital with special consideration of individual patient clinical needs to ensure a high standard of patient care. Direct and assist hospital staff in determining work priorities and making decisions to ensure that the needs of patients and their families are met efficiently and effectively. Work collaboratively with all members of the Patient Flow Command Center and clinical units to ensure the right patient gets to the right bed in a timely manner. Facilitate admissions, discharges and transfer of patients with physician, nursing and administrative leadership; Interact with clinical teams to prevent unnecessary delays in bed turnover, patient flow gridlock, and ineffective hospital capacity utilization. Evaluate clinical needs of patients waiting for beds in UCC, PACU, and other units to ensure patients are prioritized and assigned to prevent backup in outpatient and specialty units. Collaborates with other disciplines on an ongoing basis to ensure safety and quality of care (security, clinical nutrition, medical staff and others) Manage Staffing needs proactively and in the moment to meet patient care needs. Utilize Electronic Medical Record and other electronic tools to make data driven decisions regularly. Lead Huddles with Charge Nurses each shift and PRN. Attend DMS huddles to learn and share information. Maintain communication with the referring facility and internal patient care team regarding external patient transfer status.

Requirements

  • NYS (New York State) RN License
  • Bachelors of Nursing (BSN), Master’s degree (MSN highly preferred)
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience and leadership skills
  • Knowledgeable about business and the marketplace and able to apply this knowledge to advance the organization's goals.
  • A provider of work directives, delegating responsibilities as necessary and removing obstacles in order to get work done.
  • Effective and therapeutic communication with Patients, Families, Staff and Team.
  • Critical thinking and the ability to make decisions which serve the patient, team and organization .
  • Able to use technology to gather and process data to drive decisions and improve patient flow and care.
  • Building effective teams where team members apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals.
  • Able to operate effectively, even when things are not clear or the way forward is not obvious.
