About The Position

Clinical Nurse Supervisor Department: 09121 AMG Lakemoor - Building Operations Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 40 Schedule Details/Additional Information: In office support Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:30am at the earliest and 5:30pm at the latest. The CNS will support all teammates at both the Lakemoor and McHenry offices. Pay Range $44.15 - $66.25 Major Responsibilities: Quality Patient Care Handles daily staff and physician professional and clinical issues. Implements standards that ensure safe effective patient care. Reports and documents accurately through ICIS (electronic medical record) or by hard copy when necessary. Observes equipment and supply utilization and techniques used in preparation, cleaning and storing equipment and takes actions to improve methods. Unit Staffing Provides input to the director relative to unit staffing variances. Evaluates staff performance and makes recommendations. Assists the Director with Performance Evaluations. Interviews prospective employees along with Director. Conducts staff disciplinary action according to policy and procedure. Supervises patient care staff including orienting, training, counseling and evaluating. Makes daily staff work assignments based on patient acuity and clinical competence of staff. Unit Specific Education Conducts learning need assessments through peer input, physician requests and observation of skill levels within the unit. Facilitates new employee unit-specific orientation by acting as a preceptor, coordinates orientation schedule and facilitates compliance of employee competencies. Assures annual competencies and skills check offs are completed. Monitors certification: ACLS, BLS, licensure. Conducts staff meetings. Unit-Specific Data Assists with collection of QI data relative to unit. Reviews charts as necessary to assure compliance with JCAHO standards and other regulatory issues under the auspices of the Director. Collects other data as necessary relative to the development of the unit/service line. Completes data collection within defined time frame and submits to appropriate individual. Monitors documentation via ongoing chart audits for completion. Completes projects and reports as required. Assists with development of department goals, objectives, policies and procedures. Patient Care Resolves patient concerns/complaints as appropriate. Serves as a communication liaison between patients, families, staff and physicians and reports critical consequences of actions taken to Manager or Director. Observes patient care practices in the unit and develops/implements action plan to improve and refine. Provides administrative coverage for the director during absence as needed. Reviews unusual occurrence forms with appropriate action and follow-up. Complies with hospital and professional license, certification, in-service and training requirements and committee and conference participation as appropriate for position. Maintains familiarity with nursing care issues relating to medical problems, surgical procedures, diagnostic studies and technical training in the use of equipment pertinent to the area. Interprets and communicates hospital nursing philosophy, policies, procedures, and established standards of care and practice. Completes unit schedule within defined time frame, according to organizational policy and procedure with appropriate coverage. Assures that the unit has necessary supplies and equipment at all times. Delegates daily tasks for maintenance, cleaning and restocking of the unit. Maintains equipment usage by contacting Biomed or maintenance for necessary repairs. Other duties as assigned. Continuing Education Completes electronic medical record competency within 90 days Completes competency checklist within 90 days Completes unit and departmental annual skills validations Meets requirements for Staff RN job description

Requirements

  • Valid, active unencumbered Nursing license approved by the Georgia Licensing Board for GA locations and Alabama Licensing Board for AL locations
  • BLS certification
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing
  • Progressive leadership Administrative and clinical competencies
  • Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries weight up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols with vision and hearing within normal range to respond to Code alerts and equipment alarms.
  • Work-related stress due to volume and time constraints with irregular working hours
