The Clinical Nurse (CN) is a Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for providing hands-on, evidence-based patient care in accordance with the California Nursing Practice Act, regulatory requirements, standards of care, and hospital policies. This role involves performing all steps of the nursing process, including patient assessment, data interpretation, care planning, implementation, and evaluation. The CN coordinates care with other providers, educates patients and families on managing their care and preventing complications, and partners with families to deliver family-centered care. Additionally, the Clinical Nurse monitors the quality of nursing care, is responsible for their own professional development (including licensure and BLS certification), and contributes to the nursing profession through teaching and sharing expertise within the unit or hospital.
