About The Position

The Clinical Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for the delivery of safe, effective, direct and indirect, patient-family centered care through the continuum of perioperative care to include outpatient surgery (eg, preoperative, special procedures, outpatient care); preoperative; operating room; post anesthesia care; gastrointestinal; sterile processing

Requirements

Must be able to report to work fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of illegal drugs, medical marijuana, prescription medication, and/or alcohol.
Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with other individuals.
Job responsibilities may require a considerable amount of physical work. The individual will be required to assist with lifting and moving patients, pushing of carts, wheelchairs, and other equipment; and lifting or pushing of up to 25 pounds. The individual must be able to bend over to perform certain duties, e.g., check chest tube drainage, check urinary output, etc. The individual must also be able to maneuver throughout the halls, stairways, and patient rooms in response to hospital emergencies. Interpretation of environmental input requires visual and auditory skills. A significant amount of writing and computer entry is required.

Responsibilities

Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization
Ensures the smooth day to day flow of patients admitted and discharged from the unit.
First to assume staffing for a scheduling need.
Ensures completion of patient pre-op and post-op phones calls.
Audits records and collaborates with the Nursing Director for implementation and evaluation of quality improvement activities to ensure the ongoing quality of patient care.
Completes responsibilities in a timely manner through effective organization, setting priorities, delegation, and time management skills.
Develops implements and ensures compliance with WRHS’s policies and procedures, regulatory and legal requirements and current health care standards.
Participate in interviews for perioperative management personnel selection.
Verify perioperative services compliance with organizational policies and procedures and regulatory and accreditation standards.
Investigates risk management and patient/public relations issues and takes action, including reporting as appropriate.
Supports shared leadership decision making through all aspects of the day to day operations of the unit such as allocation of resources, staffing, space, equipment/supplies and budgeting process.
Accountable for medical equipment, maintaining supplies, surgical scheduling and billing and staff work schedules
Assumes the responsibility for the evaluation, education and orientation of the personnel in the OR
Works closely with physicians and CRNA’s to ensure quality and efficient patient care.
Collaborates with the Nursing Director to monitor, review, justify and implement strategies to improve financial performance of the surgery department.
Pursue professional growth and participates in a professional organization.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervision
Represents department by actively participating on WRHS committees, councils, teams and community activities
Supports Evidenced Based Practices by initiating and facilitating changes to improve patient care through literature reviews, nursing research, journal clubs, and shared leadership.
Serves as role model and mentor by consistently demonstrating professionalism.
