About The Position

This position is for our Intensive Care Unit. The Clinical Nurse Leader works in tandem with the Nurse Manager to achieve and maintain the quality initiatives of the nursing unit. The CNL is a clinical resource and models the use of best practice in the care setting. This role includes the onboarding of new colleagues as well as initial and annual competencies based on the needs of the unit, participation in a variety of multidisciplinary patient focused care committees, serves as a mentor and advocate for the professional development of nurses and is an active member in our shared governance. Position responsibilities: The Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) is an expert nurse and role model who facilitates expected outcomes, demonstrates leadership and serves as a resource in the management of clinical nursing care to improve patient outcomes within the defined clinical area of practice and functions to provide holistic, patient-centered care using evidence-based practices. The CNL is responsible for evaluating the appropriateness of admissions and continued patient stay and communicating patient needs to the care management and inter-professional team to facilitate the development of an appropriate care plan. They contribute to the healthcare team's effectiveness by identifying barriers to effective and efficient utilization of resources and evaluating patients' needs. They facilitate communication across the inter-professional team and actively participate in interdisciplinary rounds, complex case review and management of patient throughput. The CNL evaluates, monitors, and improves the quality of nursing care by leading/participating in performance improvement activities and providing/coordinating department-level nursing orientation and ongoing education that support quality patient care and achievement of identified outcome goals. They assist in organizational initiatives as related to ongoing maintenance of specialty designations, regulatory requirements and community collaborative efforts. The CNL provides department-level oversight for the following: • Improving clinical outcomes, care coordination • Maintain professional practice environment for Nursing • Ongoing education and professional development for clinical nurses • Manage clinical component of orientation to nursing department • Nursing care coordination of complex cases.

Requirements

  • Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN)
  • Current IL State Nursing License
