About The Position

Primary Duties and Responsibilities The Clinical Nurse I – MedSurg role provides direct patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act to assigned patients on Medical/Surgical units. The nurse collaborates with other disciplines of the health care team to ensure the delivery of safe, timely and appropriate quality patient care. This includes providing physical assessments, nursing interventions, pain management, medication administrations, specimen collection, meeting nutritional needs, and teaching and discharge needs of the patients assigned. Utilizes the nursing process based on evidence-based best practices to meet patient care needs. Evaluates and adjusts the nursing care process as necessary with consultation as needed, and confers with the appropriate resource personnel when making ethical/legal/medical dilemma decisions. Performs other duties as assigned. Outpatient Chemical Dependency Program: Conducts Nursing assessments of patients, screening for needs and other health-related concerns. Performs patient assessments including vital signs and monitoring for patient needs. Work closely with MD/NP and therapists as a vital part of the treatment team. Coordinate care with outside providers. Monitor lab results and refer to physician within protocols and guidelines. Identify the need for crisis intervention and clinical nursing practice including personal care services, monitoring and reporting findings, medication self-administration, client teaching and health education, emergency intervention and other nursing services within professional scope of practice.

Requirements

  • Clinical Nurse I’s at Magnet designated facilities only require a BSN or that a BSN program is started within one year of hire date and BSN degree is attained within two years of the starting the BSN program.
  • Registered Nurse in the State of California - Current and in good standing.
  • All Clinical Nurse I's are required to have current BLS certification prior to clinical rotation.
