About The Position

The Director leads all aspects of the Outpatient Comprehensive Cancer Center & Wound Healing Center. The Director provides leadership to core operations, finance, and clinical competency required for outpatient oncology and wound care; leading evidence-based advancement in outpatient oncology & wound healing services. The Director will collaborate cross functionally with business, clinical leaders and staff to develop business plans, impact analyses, workforce plans, and other tools in support of program growth and success and to improve the clinical, operational, and financial outcomes of the program. Leads the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of efficient workflow systems and protocols within the Outpatient Oncology and Wound Care Services program. This includes analyzing existing processes, identifying areas for improvement, developing and implementing new workflows and programs, and regularly monitoring their effectiveness to ensure optimal utilization of resources, employee engagement, high-quality patient care and patient satisfaction. Leads the development and execution of strategic plans in alignment with the overall organizational goals, collaborating with senior leadership to define key performance indicators, programmatic priorities, and resource allocation strategies. Analyze current and future growth trends in the areas of clinical service and propose or revise programming to optimally position SVH to meet the needs of the patient population. Develops and implements comprehensive strategies to foster a highly engaged and motivated workforce. This includes initiatives such as: creating a positive and supportive work environment, recognizing and rewarding employee contributions, providing opportunities for professional growth and development, facilitating effective communication and feedback mechanisms. Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with strategic priorities. Analyze financial performance, identify opportunities for revenue enhancement and cost optimization, and implement strategies to achieve budgetary targets. Lead and motivate cross-functional teams in the design, implementation, and evaluation of new programs and services, effectively navigating complex and dynamic healthcare environments. Builds strong relationships and fosters a collaborative work environment. Effectively engages and motivates diverse stakeholders, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, support staff, patients, and families, to achieve shared goals. Analyzes complex situations, identifies root causes, and develops innovative solutions to challenging operational and clinical issues. Champions a culture of continuous improvement and proactively seeks opportunities to enhance the quality and efficiency of care. Fosters open communication and values diverse perspectives. Actively seeks input from staff, patients, and community partners to inform decision-making and promote a patient-centered approach to care. Analyzes and interprets healthcare data to inform strategic planning, performance improvement initiatives, and operational decision-making. Effectively communicates data-driven insights to diverse audiences. Develops and maintains strong relationships with community partners to expand access to oncology services, coordinate care, and improve patient outcomes. Actively participates in community outreach and education initiatives to promote cancer prevention and early detection. Develops and maintains partnerships that foster seamless care transitions, improves access to oncology services, and promotes cancer prevention and early detection initiatives within the community. Leads and oversees the oncology service line’s accreditation process, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards set by accrediting bodies such as the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC). Director will responsible for all California laws and federal regulations specific to licensing (e.g., TJC, CDPH). Works with the inpatient departments to ensure exceptional continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Current California Registered Nurse license required.
  • National Certification from the Magnet approved list of accepted certifications in area of expertise or leadership certification (must obtain within 2 years of hire date or transfer date).
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ of progressively responsible and directly related nursing experience including two (2) years in a leadership role.
  • Substantial knowledge of: Current nursing principles, theories and practices. Laws, regulations and hospital guidelines pertaining to professional nursing care of patients. Principles of CQI and ability to apply these principles including PDSA to improve unit work. Ability to promote effective collaboration and teamwork among individuals of multiple disciplines and across organizational boundaries.
