Duke University Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse for its NeuroScience Progressive Care Units (Stepdown), which are two 37-bed units located on the 8th and 9th floors of the new Duke Central Tower. These units provide exemplary care for patients and families, handling a variety of high-acuity cases similar to a community hospital ICU, such as patients with lumbar drains, EVDs, central lines, spinal trauma injuries, and epilepsy. The units care for medically complex patients who no longer require mechanical ventilation, with a patient ratio of 1:3/4. As a Clinical Nurse, the role involves prioritizing service and patient-centered care, providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care, and utilizing the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating) to achieve departmental goals. The nurse will plan and provide advanced and/or specialized nursing care guided by the DUHS Professional Practice model, participate in the clinical ladder program, educational activities, departmental committees, and research projects, and adhere to all applicable regulations and accrediting bodies. The position also emphasizes outstanding customer service and respectful relationships.
