Relocation Assistance (based on eligibility)  Clinical Nurse Educator-Duke University Hospital The Med Surg Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) will provide education and support for the General Medicine Inpatients units, Pulmonary Units, and Vascular Access Team at Duke University Hospital. The CNE will also provide education support to quality improvement initiatives across the Duke Health System.  This role includes engagement during New Hire Orientation as well as supporting covering areas during staff onboarding. The CNE will collaborate with clinical leadership to ensure staff competency, promote evidence-based practice, and foster professional development across supported units. The CNE will also provide instruction in accordance with American Heart Association instructor guidelines (BLS, ACLS, PALS).  Hours: Mon- Friday, with occasional Saturday or early morning availability The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) across the entities of Duke Medicine by providing staff development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leaders and researcher. Each supports the development of the bedside nurse, and fosters empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence through the delivery of evidenced based nursing practice. This occurs through the facilitation of the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment, continuing education and leadership development. In addition, as a role model of professional behavior, the CNE is instrumental in creating a professional nursing climate within Duke Medicine to meet the needs of the diverse units within DUHS and the global needs of Duke Medicine. Must be able to withstand physical activity which includes the ability to move or lift at least 50 pounds. Travel may be required to facilitate collaboration with entities across Duke Medicine.

Requirements

  • BSN required
  • 3 years of nursing, clinical educator, or nursing instructor experience required.
  • Current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina or compact license from participating state is required.
  • BLS required.
  • Basic Computer Skills in Microsoft office
  • Must be able to withstand physical activity which includes the ability to move or lift at least 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • MSN preferred.
  • Adult medicine or surgical experience preferred
  • A Master's Degree in Nursing may be substituted for 2 years of required experience.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, and/or NRP Instructor level certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Audiovisual equipment set up an advantage
