About The Position

The Nurse Educator is responsible for designing, implementing, evaluating, and updating educational programs that support clinical excellence and professional development for nursing staff. This role ensures that nurses maintain the competencies necessary to deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based patient care. The Nurse Educator partners with clinical leaders, staff, and interdisciplinary teams to support onboarding, continuing education, and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or graduate‑level education in Nursing Education strongly preferred.
  • Current RN license in good standing.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and evaluate education outcomes.
  • Proficiency with learning technologies, simulation tools, and electronic health records.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications (e.g., NPD‑BC, CNE) preferred or required depending on the organization.
  • Prior teaching, precepting, or staff education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates nursing education programs to enhance clinical skills and professional growth.
  • Coordinates and facilitates orientation and onboarding for new nursing staff.
  • Provides in‑service training, competency assessments, and continuing education courses.
  • Utilizes a variety of teaching methods, including simulation, classroom instruction, and bedside coaching.
  • Serves as a resource to clinical teams in applying evidence‑based practices.
  • Conducts learning needs assessments and adjusts education plans accordingly.
  • Supports staff in meeting regulatory and accreditation requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, state boards).
  • Designs and updates educational materials, lesson plans, competency checklists, and clinical policies.
  • Ensures educational content reflects current best practices and standards of care.
  • Collaborates with leadership to identify gaps in practice and develop targeted education.
  • Participates in quality‑improvement initiatives and tracks outcomes of educational interventions.
  • Monitors staff performance and assists in developing performance‑improvement plans when needed.
  • Works closely with nurse managers, clinical specialists, and providers to align educational strategies with organizational goals.
  • Acts as a mentor and role model for professionalism and clinical excellence.
  • Supports a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
