About The Position

This position is located in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The Clinical Coordinator/RN works as a part of an interdisciplinary team to clinical nursing care for children enrolled in UAMS Kids First clinics. The Clinical Coordinator/RN acts as a clinical resource for clinic staff and as a community liaison for children enrolled in the program and may temporarily assume the duties of the Clinic Director when designated.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Nursing PLUS two (2) years RN experience
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Arkansas
  • Current CPR instructor status or obtained within six months of hire date

Responsibilities

  • Implements the nursing process to manage patient care problems of a complex and changing nature as demonstrated by documentation and observation.
  • Assumes accountability and responsibility for all aspects of care for assigned group of patients, with respect for developmental level and age-specific issues.
  • Administers medications, treatments, and performs procedures according to UAMS and Kids First policies.
  • Evaluates children to identify signs of illness or injury and intervenes appropriately.
  • Documents growth, nutrition, and health data, and evaluates for trends.
  • Coordinates and completes nursing intake/ health assessment history and ongoing nursing assessments to monitor progress at established intervals.
  • Maintains current and accurate records and ensures confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates objective and family centered communication in documentation.
  • Works to ensure coordination of care with other providers: Actively works with referral sources to coordinate care and communicate progress.
  • Collaborates with Medical Director, Director of Nursing, Registered Dietitian, Primary Care Physicians, Subspecialty Providers, UAMS resources and others to inform, implement, and revise plan of care as needed.
  • Develops and maintains close working relationships with clinic Director, Medical Director, Director of Nursing, and other clinic team members.
  • Encourages families to take an active role in supporting their child’s development using principles of Family Centered Care.
  • Engages families as part of the treatment team. Models positive communication.
  • Other duties (oral and written) as assigned by supervisor, director and/or other Kids First leadership. May temporarily assume the duties of the Clinic Director in their absence.
  • Integrates and shares knowledge related to clinical nursing practice: Supports the academic model of Kids First by participating in the training of students. Teaching/learning needs of patients and families are identified, addressed, and documented.
  • Provides learning activities, including CPR classes, and acts as a resource for staff in the areas of health, safety, and infection control.
  • Assumes responsibility for acquiring knowledge and experience to meet professional goals.
