About The Position

The Clinical Manager practices professional nursing by performing acts which require substantial specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skill based upon applied principles of psychological, physical, and social sciences. The clinical manager is responsible for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the practice and their effect on patient care in a designated unit. The clinical manager has authority to make decisions on that unit in the areas of patient care, human resource, and financial management. The clinical manager is responsible for department's operations. This person demonstrates superior communication skills with all internal and external customers and exhibits a high degree of integrity, a solid character, and sound judgment.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education Associates Degree Nursing Required
  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree Business, Nursing, Health Care, Within three (3) years of employment Required
  • Minimum Work Experience 3 years Healthcare experience Required
  • 1-3 years Medical Office Leadership experience Required
  • Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse Licensed State of Florida or eligible compact state Upon Hire Required
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
  • Demonstrated clinical competence in relevant area of nursing practice.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and potential managerial competency.
  • Evidence of this includes, but is not limited to, effective communication skills, ability to deal well with people, ability to problem solve, ability to confront/resolve issues, ability to motivate others, ability to plan, organize, and direct the activities of others.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and organizes office operations and procedures such as routine office visits, and overall practice/office workflow, maintenance and function of essential supplies and equipment, approval of personnel attendance, scheduling, clinical documentation, appropriate application of regulatory practice policies.
  • Assists the Practice Director in development, implementation and evaluation of on going service programs that assure quality nursing and patient care programs consistent with Service line mission.
  • Monitors/maintains office compliance with regulatory, accrediting and hospital policy for patient care services, and environmental and personnel safety.
  • Maintains current license and knowledge of nursing care requirements for all patients on the unit.
  • Assesses need for personal growth and development and takes the initiative in seeking opportunities to meet this need.
  • Works collaboratively with the management team to ensure all clinical protocols are consistent.
  • Accurately identifies real/potential problems affecting the service and implements solutions with follow through and communication.
  • Consults with patients/families through primary nurse request, direct family request, and/or direct assessment of patient/family response to hospitalization.
  • Assesses patient/significant other survey responses regarding nursing care and services.
  • Is responsible for department’s operational excellence; ensures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Manage team members which include orientation, development and evaluation of personnel, and monitoring the provision of delivering quality services.
  • Participates in the recruiting, interviewing and selecting of team members following policies, guidelines and applicable laws.
  • Evaluates their performance relative to job goals and requirements.
  • Provides coaching to staff, recommends in-service education programs, and ensures adherence to internal policies and standards.
  • Is responsible for the fiscal management of department; assures proper utilization of organization’s financial resources.
  • Effectively communicates departmental, organization, and industry information to staff.
