About The Position

The Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT) is responsible for receipt, processing, and analysis of specimens, verifying data, and performing quality assurance.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in medical technology or AA or equivalent degree from a technical school specializing in medical technology.
  • 5 - 10 years of experience/training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • MLS, MLT or equivalent certification or 5-10 years training in those fields.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, specifically with Excel, Word, data entry applications and computer navigation skills.
  • Proficiency in English including speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Math skills used to interpret scientific data and processes
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to function independently and in a team environment.
  • Positive attitude toward work and willingness to cooperate with co-workers and supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Process and handle analytical specimens.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Prepare, store, and maintain inventory of required reagents and materials.
  • Produce, review, and manage analytical data.
  • Recognize equipment malfunctions and failures and notifies management.
  • Participate in continuing education programs as directed by department management.
  • Participate in ongoing daily quality assurance activities and quality assurance studies.
  • Develop the ability to recognize factors and instrumental behavior that affects analytical measurements and result and takes appropriate corrective action in accordance with established protocols.
  • Work closely with pathologist, and managers to continually improve laboratory operations.
  • Cross train to perform other duties with Laboratory Services.
  • Assist in training new laboratory personnel by demonstrating necessary laboratory skills and procedures.
  • Assess supplies for departmental need and order necessary items.
