About The Position

Position Summary: The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) is primarily responsible for the performance of laboratory testing on patient samples for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. The CLS must ensure that all the equipment and instruments used to perform patient testing are maintained according to the manufacturer's specifications and that both the instruments and chemicals used must pass quality control testing before patient testing is allowed to proceed. The CLS must undergo regular competency test to check his/her ability to perform highly complexed testing and must continue to pass these competencies in order to maintain his/her ability to perform patient testing.

Requirements

  • Knowledge necessary to obtain Clinical Laboratory Scientist license in the state of California and current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license.
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years recent experience as a medical technologist in an acute care setting preferred.
  • Ability to act as supervisor in absence of higher supervisor.
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
