About The Position

The Clinical Laboratory Assistant shall perform, and report waived and moderately complex laboratory tests in chemistry, hematology, and microbiology. Recognize problems, identify the cause (technical or instrumental) and make simple corrections by using preset strategies. Use and monitor quality control procedures within predetermined parameters. Performs all tasks in accordance with the Company’s safety and compliance programs. Effective written and verbal communication Able to handle stressful situations caused by high volume and deadlines Operate and communicate clearly on the phone and display good phone etiquette at all times. Operate a Laboratory Information System (LIS) Requires fine motor coordination, clear speech, normal hearing, and good visual acuity, including color perception. Absolute integrity in the accurate performance and reporting of results. Adherence to company safety regulations Perform phlebotomy duties as required, to include venipuncture and capillary techniques, using standard equipment such as vacutainer tubes and sleeves, tourniquets, syringes and butterfly needles. Assure that requisition includes patient demographics and accurate required billing information. Transcribe physician orders Facilitate the unobserved collection of urine specimens. Process, label, and store specimen samples for subsequent analysis. Perform Med-Competence testing.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required.
  • Requires fine motor coordination, clear speech, normal hearing, and good visual acuity, including color perception.
  • Absolute integrity in the accurate performance and reporting of results.

  • Able to handle stressful situations caused by high volume and deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of College or an Associate's Degree is Preferred
  • 3 Years or more of lab related experience to include 3 months practicum gained in clinical, hospital or lab setting.
  • Prefer prior waived testing experience.
  • State MA-P (Medical Assistant Phlebotomist) or MA-C (Medical Assistant Certified)
